If you have never listened to country music before, or are just looking for some new music to discover, now is the time to start listening. Country music is entering a new era where pop and electric are replacing southern twang and stringy beats. Don’t believe me? Just check the iTunes Top Charts. You’ll see several songs featuring collaborations between iconic country artists and pop artists. Recently, Justin Bieber and Dan + Shay have produced “10,000 Hours,” while Marshmello and Kane Brown have produced “One Thing Right.” Those are just two of the biggest country/pop mixes produced in the past few months. And sure, feel free to include “Old Town Road” by Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus.

Today’s country music is filled with good vibes and happy beats that will make your day brighter! There’s plenty of popular country songs that will make you want to get off your feet and party, or go outside and have fun. Country music has previously had a negative connotation for being about breakups or trucks, but that is no longer the case. If you need a song to brighten up your day, go check out “Good Vibes” by Chris Janson, “Homegrown” by The Zac Brown Band, “Look What God Gave Her” by Thomas Rhett, or even “Cruise” by Florida Georgia Line, maybe the most popular country band in the USA.

Another amazingly popular country duo is Dan + Shay, who are especially popular amongst teenage girls. Dan + Shay are known for hit songs such as “Speechless,” “Nothin’ Like You,” and “All to Myself.” Dan + Shay’s romantic lyrics and their pop twist have captured the ears of music lovers across the world. There are plenty of other slow yet romantic country songs too. The 2019 CMA Song of the Year, “Beautiful Crazy” by Luke Combs, along with “Good As You” by Kane Brown, “Eyes On You” by Chase Rice, and “You Make it Easy” by Jason Aldean are all beautifully written songs that are sure to make you think of someone special.

The female talent across the country genre is like no other, with musicians such as Maren Morris, Kacey Musgraves, Carey Underwood, and Kelsea Ballerini producing quality music for a wide variety of listeners. A 2019 Nominee for Female Vocalist of the Year, Maren Morris is known for upbeat songs such as “All My Favorite People,” “The Bones,” and “GIRL.” Former American Idol winner Carey Underwood released a widely popular song in Southbound this past year and “The Fighter” with Keith Urban three years earlier. The women in country music are showing their strengths and vocals while representing women across the world.

The upbeat, pop-ish type of country music that is taking over today’s music charts are guaranteed to make for some of the summer’s best tunes! Whether it be blasting country music in your Jeep Wrangler down the Montauk Highway on a sunny day in July, relaxing by a nighttime fire, or listening to music during study hall, I promise you that you might just fall in love with country music!
