My project this year is an adaptation of my last year’s project, with more specificity. I am extremely interested in surgery and everything surrounding it and since sutures are not too commonly researched, I thought this would be a good idea. The title of my project is The Effects of Different Concentrations of Triclosan on Escherichia Coli. Triclosan is an antiseptic chemical commonly used in surgery in order to stop infection. In the project I determine what effects different concentrations of triclosan have on Escherichia Coli. I use Escherichia Coli because it is very similar to human cells. Due to this, it can be said that the effects of the different concentrations of Triclosan on the Escherichia coli growth may be similar to it’s effect on human cells. I am very excited to see the end product of my project. Finally seeing what the effects of triclosan are on Escherichia coli will be very interesting. It is also very rewarding to be able to create an end product after months of hard work.
