This year I will be studying whether being exposed to informal English outside of an academic setting has any effect on the academic performance of Spanish-monolingual high school students in the ENL program. The results of this project could potentially contribute to better teaching and social methods for encouraging English language acquisition in adolescents.My project is titled The Effects of Extracurricular Input on Academic Performance in ENL Students. I have done a lot of work researching bilingualism and thought this topic was another interesting route I hadn’t explored yet! I’m very excited to work with human participants again and to utilize more statistical analysis when working with my data this year.
