Junior Taylor Case is Bringing Love and Joy To Nursing Homes
April 22, 2020
In our current situation, Huntington students are making the best of their circumstances and thinking of those in need. Junior Taylor Case is making photo books of daily activities and quotes to send to local nursing homes, as what she says is a way “to bring some love to people who need it right now.”
If you know Taylor, you know that she’s one of the nicest people in the student body. Vice president of the Class of 2021 and a Natural Helper, her school spirit and general friendliness are unmatched, and this hasn’t changed in the past month of being at home. Taylor has been reaching out to Huntington students, asking for pictures of how they’ve been spending their time while social distancing along with a quote. She then puts these words and pictures together in handmade books, delivering them to the elderly in local nursing homes, who are currently isolated and especially at risk for COVID-19.
When asked about why she thought of making photo books, Taylor said, “I think it’s important to think about other ways we can help. I know many of us are feeling hopeless right now and want to help others, and I think this is a great and safe way to send some love!” If you would like to help her send love, you can send pictures and quotes Taylor’s way on Instagram; her username is @taylorrcase. “People can also look up and contact nursing homes that are taking cards, letters, and drawings,” she noted.
People like Taylor are doing their part to keep community spirits up during a time when much is unknown and getting caught up in stress is all too easy, and she admits that she couldn’t have done it alone. “I just wanted to thank everyone who has sent me stuff and helped me make them! I think it’s great to see how people can come together during hard times.”
